Rizco President and Partner, Debra Rizzi, has been appointed to the Wall Business and Finance (WBFA) advisory board for the 2018 – 2019 academic year.
Rizzi is one of 20 members to serve on the WBFA advisory board. She sits among executives from the local community including UBS Financial Service, New York Life Insurance Co., Monmouth University, Playa Bowls, Hackensack Meridian Health, Two River Community Bank, Jersey Mike’s, among others. All members are selected through a thorough review process.
WBFA is one of four academies that are ancillary to the Wall High School curriculum. Students who are accepted into the WBFA tailor their elective choices to a focus on business and finance. They must take a minimum of 20 credits of mandatory business courses and successfully complete an internship between the summer of their junior and senior years. Applications are accepted each spring from rising freshmen and sophomores only.
“There are currently 80 students participating within the WBFA who are gaining relevant, hands-on experience with local business leaders with the goal of shaping their futures,” said Rizco President and Partner Debra Rizzi. “From on-site coursework, in-school guest speakers, networking events, internships, and off-site trips and tours, Rizco is eager to be engaged with Wall High School’s students and aid in their growth.”
Earlier this year, Rizco provided an internship opportunity for Wall High School Senior and WBFA Senior Class Student Ambassador, Riley Tracy. During her two weeks at Rizco, Riley gained hands-on experience by shadowing Rizzi and the Rizco team, which is made up of designers and creative marketers.
Students who complete the program will be graduates of the WBFA and will receive a “Certificate of Business and Financial Studies” as well as a medal to wear at their Wall High School graduation ceremony.
“At Rizco, we make every effort to ensure that students are gaining valuable experience outside of the classroom,” added Rizzi. “But above all, we strongly believe in giving back to the community and inspiring the younger generation.”
