In August 2017, Drew University – the “University in the Forest” – entered its 150th year with much to celebrate.
To commemorate its sesquicentennial year, a special anniversary edition of the University’s alumni magazine was conceptualized and developed that not only honored the University’s heritage, but also paid homage to the beautiful, wooded 186-acre campus.
The creative goal was to create a visual experience that embraced nature- and forest-inspired elements. The front cover featured a printed wood-grain pattern with a textured-coating and an embossed oak leaf to set the tone of the issue. Inside, the 150-year legacy story was told through a visual timeline spanning across 26 pages. Throughout the timeline, mini-timelines, content features, and images support stories about dorm life, athletics, academics, and more. Additional features spotlight the University’s presidents, mentors, and “Drew Firsts” fun facts.
The Drew University 150th Anniversary Edition magazine received a 2017 NJ Ad Club first place award in the category of Collateral/All Printed Material: Magazine Design.
